For many time is viewed as the master and they are the lowly slave who must walk to the constant beating on the drum of time. Yet, this is not how it must be.
What would happen if you could become the master and not the slave to time? Would you have:
- More free time?
- More balanced life?
- More results?
- More fun?
- More success?
Maybe you are thinking:
- That is not just possible?
- You dont know my schedule?
- Time management training does not work because I have been there, done that?
First to answer those three questions:
- Yes it is possible because it is about you and not about time!
- I do not need to know your schedule, because you probably focus more of your time on what you cannot control than what you can control.
- Yes, most time management training does not work, because time management is not about time nor about management, but about goals and integrity.
Starting right now, you must learn to lead yourself first. Self-leadership is how you no longer become the slave to time. Within this process of internal leadership, you should write down your own personal values statement. When you adhere to this along with your vision and current mission statements, you will direct your actions and not react to the actions of others.
Finally, learn a proven goal setting and goal achievement process. Time management is really the apex of goal setting. Many time management training courses do not focus on the foundation that being goal setting for their time management skills and knowledge. Without a solid foundation, time management implodes creating more redo of the time management training.
By changing your focus away from time and to what the real issues are, you will no longer become the slave, but will become the master.
Before you can manage your time, you need to know why time management is important to you. Where are you going? The M.A.P. for Success, a FREE email course may help you begin to chart a course of business, professional or personal success. Visit

Time management is a big concern for a lot of people. I keep hearing, There are just not enough hours in the day or Where does my time go? Face it we all live busy lives. Work, family, and other commitments keep us all hopping. To utilize better time management, its important to recognize what the specific problems are. Is it not having enough time for you or your family? Do you feel that you are wasting time by excessive driving? Maybe you are not sure where all your time is going and just want to account for it. Or you could have a full schedule that you are having a hard time keeping up with. Whatever the reason, time is a precious resource that most of us need to use to its fullest.
The most important step in time management is evaluating our schedules. On a sheet of paper write up a typical week for you, by looking at your current schedule you will be able to identify places where better time management could be use. Ask yourself why you are feeling unsatisfied with your schedule? Make a list of what you want to change and what you want to make room for. Do you want more time to peruse interests? More time to be with your children? Or just more time to get everything done?
After you have done this take a piece of paper and draw three columns. In the first column put a list of all appointments, events, or commitments that are set in stone, things that take place at a set time and happen daily, weekly or monthly. Such as work, club meetings, or standing doctors appointments. In the second column put flexible tasks or commitments that can be done around your set in stone commitments, such as grocery shopping, house cleaning, or having lunch with a friend. In the third column put those occasional appointments, doctor appointments, a school play, or an old friend coming into town (or anything that does not fall into the other two columns).
Then using a calendar (preferably one with large spaces for the days) Or use a notebook and label each page a day or two (depending on how much you are trying to accomplish daily or weekly.) Start putting in the items from your three columns, starting with the items that are set in stone then the items that are occasional, leave the flexible items to last since you are able to put them in around the other things.
The objective is to balance out your days and to maximize your time. Why make a separate trip to the pharmacy when it is on your way to your sons soccer practice? I always try to plan appointments in the same area on the same day, this reduces my travel time and gets the most out of my day.
The biggest thing to consider is: Are you doing too much? No matter how well time is
managed there is such a thing as an overload of commitments. Time management is not just about structuring your week so that you can get everything accomplished. It is about creating a manageable schedule that will give you time for the important things in life. So, before looking at your time management skills look at what you are trying to juggle.
Include things that you want to do but just dont seem to have time for in your day.
What is the sense of managing your time better just to fit in more work? A part of time management is balancing so that you can have time to enjoy the fun stuff in life too.
If you are so booked solid that you can not schedule an hour and a half of quality family time, an hour of time with your significant other, and at least at the very minimum 30 minutes 45 minutes of time for yourself then you have too much on your plate and it is time to ask for help to relieve yourself of some commitments. Being run down and worn-out will not assist you in better time management, in fact it will hinder it.

10. Read
Whether you want to read an entire book or just a short article from a magazine, reading shapes peoples minds and thinking processes. For example, most books seem long and tedious to read, but that is because those people are not good at summarizing and speed reading. You do not have to read word-for-word to acquire knowledge, just by focusing on the main idea gives you a general understanding of the content presented to you.
9. Play games
Not only does playing games improve your social skills and quality time you spend with friends and family, it also helps you think. Whether you are playing a spelling-based game like scrabble or a business-based game like monopoly, or even video games, which helps improve your hand-eye coordination, you increase your cognitive skills and thinking patterns which help you become smarter and grow as an individual.
8. Listen to music
Not only have there been studies proving that listening to classical music makes you smarter, but it can inspire you to do things that you have never done before, or looking at an occasion from a new perspective. For example, listening to the lyrics of Imagine may make you wonder why the world is the way it is, or listening to antiwar songs such as Metallicas One may spark an interest in becoming a political activist.
7. Daydream
While dreaming does not sound very productive, many of the great inventions and processes were though up just by dreaming about How can I do this better? or Could this be done differently?
6. Rest & nap
Along with dreaming, resting does not sound productive. But if you give yourself just a 30-minute nap, you will be able to rejuvenate energy lost earlier in the day and are enabled to perform important tasks more efficiently.
5. Exercise
Even if you only exercise for a brief period of time each day, the work will add up and your health will improve. Taking a walk around the block or doing 20 sit-ups will assist you in achieving various goals, such as losing some weight or increasing your endurance.
4. Work on a hobby
Not only can you have fun participating in an activity you enjoy, but you can turn your hobby into a successful business if you decide to become an expert in its field and you understand basic business principles.
3. Surf the web
There is a vast amount of information available on the internet and you will most likely be surprised at the new things you can learn in just a few minutes online.
2. Write your thoughts
This can be a great money maker, for example one day I thought about creating a website about top ten lists, so here is the article, making money for me from my site with programs like affiliate links. Maybe by just writing a few of your thoughts down will put you on the path to becoming the next Leonardo DaVinci.
1. Ask people if they need help
If you cannot or do not want to do anything with yourself during your free time, you can always help others. Your family may need help around the house or you could volunteer at local businesses, but no matter who you help, chances are they will appreciate the time you take to assist them.

You could spend a lot of time reading the courses and articles available on the subject of time management. Managing time to ensure everything gets done is one of the most difficult tasks faced by home business owners including myself! But are we best served by managing our time or would managing our priorities make us more productive? All of us have only 24 hours in a day to work, play, and sleep. But why do some people move ahead more quickly with their goals than others?
I am convinced that the difference is prioritization: working on the important tasks first versus filling our days with “filler” tasks. We would all be better served managing our priorities each week rather than trying to manage our time.
Are you asking yourself how you make time to prioritize when you have so many things to do? Start the process by making a list of the activities that you do in your business each week (you could do this by keeping a journal for a week or two). Think about which of these tasks are actively bringing in money to your business? Which tasks are attracting customers, strengthening customer loyalty, establishing you as an expert, or growing you into the business owner you want to be? These are the tasks that should be at the top of your list. It is a well researched fact that typically 20% of our tasks act to produce 80% of our income. You just need to define which daily, weekly and monthly tasks fit into your 20% bucket.
Here are a few suggestions to become more priority focused:
1. Make the most of the times in the day when you have the highest energy levels. Get complex and mentally challenging tasks done during your energy highs. During the lows, take care of low priority, routine, or non-challenging tasks.
2. List the interruptions and habits that sidetrack you from important tasks. What can you do to reduce or eliminate distractions? Email and phone calls are very common distractions. Schedule time each day to check emails and take calls and restrict these activities at other times during the day.
3. Review your goals and your 20% tasks at the start of each week and plan important tasks into your schedule for the upcoming week
4. Carry a notebook everywhere to capture your thoughts and write down important tasks
5. Review your notebook and weekly plan each night and prioritize 5-6 tasks that you will work on the next day
6. The next day work on the most important task on your list until it is complete. Then start work on the 2nd, once it is complete start on the 3rd etc.
7.Hold yourself accountable. Take stock of your achievements each night and identify goals or tasks which you completed and which goals or tasks you need to give more attention
8. Asking questions can be an effective tool to help keep you on track. Whenever you are unsure of what to do next, just ask yourself “What is the most valuable use of my time right now?”
9. Learn to say no to low priority requests so that you have time to complete your high priority tasks
10. Can you delegate low priority or routine tasks to a personal or virtual assistant?
Be careful not to over schedule your time as this creates stress! Always remember to make time in your schedule to learn new things and develop your natural talents and abilities. For example, you could take a class, attend a training program, or read a book. Continuously improving your knowledge and skills increases your marketability, can help boost your career, and is the most reliable path to financial independence. Are there some tasks that you know you put off because of fear? Jump on them - sometimes it is the tasks that we put off that could really catapult us towards our goals!

This time management tip is based on being realistic. Are you feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, and perplexed as to how to get everything done in a day? If you are, it may be time to ask yourself if youre trying to do more than you can realistically handle.
In your eagerness to excel, advance, and achieve goals have you become like a kid in a toy store? When you over tax yourself you arent doing yourself or anyone around you any favors. Do you find yourself making too many mistakes, forgetting commitments, and missing deadlines? These are warning signs that you may be in over your head as far as the amount of work you are trying to achieve.
If your reality check indicates youve exceeded your limits how do you get yourself out of the mess youre in? Identification of the problem is the first step toward a solution. Now that you know what the problem is, its time to do a realistic evaluation. What do you want to accomplish, or what do you have to accomplish to maintain your status? This is your must dos list.
Train those around you to have more realistic expectations. If youve been struggling with this juggling act for a while youve probably trained those around you to place unrealistic demands on you. You have to set your boundaries before you can communicate those boundaries to others. Youve probably been living without time boundaries, and thats why youre so over stressed. So when someone approaches you with yet another commitment the reasonable response is, yes, I can do that but I wont be able to get to it until or yes, I can do that but what do you want me to push back in order to do this or even yes, I can do that if I can assign this other project to. Thus you begin to train others to hold more realistic time expectations, and to understand there are boundaries or limits to what they can expect. You also need to consider no as an option when what you are being asked to do doesnt fit with what youre trying to accomplish.
Eliminate the nonessentials. Even though you dont realize it you probably spend a great deal of your time each day dealing with nonessentials because youve always done these things. Make a list of all these nonessentials and really challenge yourself to stop doing the things that you can simply stop doing, and to delegate the things that someone else could do just as well.

For years, the media has led the charge on the importance of balancing work, life and family, particularly for women who are still the main caretakers of the house and family, regardless of whether they work outside the home or not. I was convinced that I had it all under control. Working in the high paced, high stress world of high tech, climbing the corporate ladder of success, I still managed to eat healthy, exercise daily, entertain friends, remember birthdays and take vacations. Then when my family started to fall apart due to illness and death, I successfully lived two separate lives with the skill of a juggler watching one ball in the air and one in the hand. One life was in and out of corporate boardrooms doing business presentations, and the other was in and out of hospital rooms dealing with doctors.
I certainly felt capable of gracefully handling it alljust like the famous women I read about in the media. Kelly Ripa has a loving marriage with a handsome hubby, three kids and two daily TV gigsone as a talk show host and one as a soap opera actress and then sitcom star. Maria Shriver is a dedicated wife to a famous actor and an involved mother to four children along with her duties as a TV reporter (until she replaced that job with being the first lady to the Governor of Californiahusband, Arnold Schwarzenegger), a best-selling author and one of Oprahs best friends (Im sure that comes with a lot of time and commitment).
Although most of us are not famous, many people with and without children, like Kelly and Maria, look as though they effortlessly achieved what most women strive for their entire livesbalance. But this isnt reality.. After all, in her book, Ten Things I Wish Id KnownBefore I Went Out into the Real World, Maria Shriver states that Superwoman is dead, and we cant do it all. The only thing balanced is an equal amount of daily stress we experience with work and family life. We continually feed our egos with finished lists, job kudos, or the perfect home and hearth. But, the more our egos get fed, the more busy our lives may seem the more our spirits are starved.
For me, the symptoms of a depleted spirit became harder to ignore: my health started to suffer, and my mind started to wander, I walked away at the peak of my career. I did not consult part-time. I did not take another job. (I did not pass GO and collect $200!) There was no middle ground that would get my equilibrium back. I was too far out, like a fishing line tangled in a bed of muddied seaweed. The only solution was to cut the line and start over. Thats when I embarked on a whole new life and work journey that was truly balancednurturing my body, mind and spirit…and a lot of other women.
My friend Susan runs her own communications business out of her home with a handful of employees, while also raising five girls, ages three–fourteen. Her job and clients are demanding and time-consuming, so in order to give her family equal time, she utilizes her excellent management skills and applies them to her home life. She specifically carves out dedicated time on her calendar to spend with individual children or for family activities. Whether its taking a knitting class with one of her girls or planning a family trip with the whole gang, she makes it part of her everyday schedule. If she were to wait until her work is over (which it never is), there would be no time left to spend with the family she loves.
Companies will be bought and sold. Work will come and go. This is the temporary nature of the world in which we live. You must remember that who you are in life is not what you do for a living. The key to balance in life is creating harmony between our spirit, which is eternal, and our physical life, which is finite. When you nurture the Goddess within you (your spirit), you will easily and willingly balance, prioritize and share your life.
5 Ways to Find the Balance:
Take up a hobby that has nothing to do with your job.
Feed your spirit regularlymeditate, get a massage, exercise, write, paint, sing.
Dont be connected to work twenty-four hours a day, just because you can.
Socialize with people outside of work, including family, friends and pets!
Never miss, postpone or cancel vacation time.

Balancing a busy personal and professional life is quite a challenge. Trying to keep current, whether that is with technology, your industry, changing expectations at work, or simply meeting your personal obligations, is becoming harder and harder. More than ever, managing time well is a key skill. Time is most precious and limited resource one has. In spite of best efforts, time is unyielding no one can stop it; slow it down or save it. It is the rare person who has enough time to do all the things that he or she wants to do. For some reason, we keep adding just one more thing and forget to eliminate others.
Considering how important goals are rember goal-setting is not taught in schools one have to make it .First own. The biggest dreamers and most successful people in sports, the arts, business or science started with a dream, a driving purpose and inspiring vision.
Big-picture dreams are wonderful things as they inspire and excite, but left alone they rarely create. Turn your dreams, intentions, and desires into firm, achievable goals. Specific, measurable, realistic plans are the building blocks to living your dreams. Goals do make it easier to stay on track and stand firm temptations that may sidetrack you in directions you do not wish to go. www.acting-international.com Plan yearly, quarterly, monthly, weekly and daily, the secret to successful planning is to allow extra time for unexpected situations and not over-book one self. Establish priorities on your activities so that at the end of each day, you have done the most important things. Planning long projects by breaking them down into bite-sized pieces will help you dedicate a few minutes each day to important high-value activities that carry future due dates. By getting ahead on projects, you are less likely to have last-minute crises and time crunches.
Beware of creeping bad habits that can incapacitate your best efforts. Recognize subconscious patterns that can make one own worst enemy. Whether it is trying to keep everything in one head or making a list, being constantly late because one wanted to do just one more thing before leaving for the meeting or being easily distracted, one can change habits. Keep one job in front of you at a time. There is a fantasy that people multi-task. Actually, what people do is one task interrupted by another. It is nearly impossible to do two things equally well, concurrently. www.property-in-majorca.com The best way to save time is not to speed up and attempt to stuff more and more into a crowded schedule. The best way to do more is to do less. Saying no and delegating more are two important strategies. Saying no will allow www.mcsweb.in one to say yes to ones priorities and to participate fully when you volunteer. Eliminate unnecessary and inappropriate activities. Those can creep in if you do not pay attention. Identify those areas of greatest stress, and begin to make changes. A continual high-stress high-rush style can cause health problems like sleep and interpersonal difficulties. Rarely does delay improve the quality of the choice. Over-analysis can be seductive and also stress producing. Keep in mind that nearly all decisions must be made with imperfect information.
The application of time management skills has tended, in the past, to be thought of as something that is for business life only. Though, time management is something from which we can all benefit in our personal lives as well, and in the art of marrying our working lives with our home and social lives.
Those benefits show in a number of ways, including health, well being and satisfaction with our lives overall. Manage your time well, and you can feel in control of your life, rather than letting events control you. There is no single method of time management, either in business or personal life. However, there are various time management tips and techniques, practices and theories which it is worth knowing about.
Acquiring time management skills is something we can set about doing in a methodical way. Really, we all practice time management whether we know it or not. It is more a matter of whether we do it well.

We all have to find what works best for our individuality, since each and every one of us is different. Accepting our own actions, behaviors and thoughts is not the beginning of learning who we really are. Rather, it is an attribute, which follows a connection between our past and our futures. You heard the nonsense never look back? Well, the people that are telling you this are in a big office basing their ideas, theories and guesses on experiences and lifetimes.
Hypocrites need to pluck the needle from their own eyes and quite advising others, since obviously the plans they make rarely work. This acceptance starts with the basics in managing our time. The basics in time management are setting up goals and plans that are obtainable. When we set goals for our selves we must askIs this goal obtainable. Do I have the ability to achieve this goal? How do I plan to make this goal successful? Asking questions then is one basic element of diverting a time management scheme that works smoothly. Asking for help is another basic element in time management that leads to success. Success is the greatest reward that life has to offer us.
No one knows it all, so sometimes we have to ask for help. When you are asking questions, you are letting others know that you have a goal and you are searching to obtain that goal by seeking out a solution. When we question our selves, we are performing a therapeutic technique that helps us to find answers to unanswered questions. For example, if you are getting married in July and it is January, you may want to ask yourself is your timeframe suitable? Does the timeframe work with your schedule? Am I ready for this? Do I have the ability to manage a marriage? If you see where I am going, it is obvious. Many people commit to marriage, but often neglect elements of time management, that are essential for making the marriage work. Time and money is invested in this arrangement and often wasted, since the marriage leads to divorce. Likewise, if we are starting a new business, we have to ask questions. Questions are the root of establishing a time management scheme that leads to success. Dont let pride get in the way of obtaining your goals. Pride is a root of evil and it does not bring forth good results when utilized inappropriately. Maintaining pride brings us to keeping it simple, which is another basic rule in time management.
Keeping it simple is smartest element in time management since it works to benefit our mind, body, and responsibilities. Simple does not mean to be simple minded, neglecting your responsibilities. Rather, simple means to put a plan in motion that works smoothly and effectively, while reaching for your goals. One example of a simple plan, is when problems arise it is often because someone made a mistake, unless nature is in the picture. If we are making plans to obtain goals, then we want to analyze carefully which strategies work best to reach that goal.
We want a plan that is logical and simple; so that it informs us which steps to take next to reach our level of success intended, without feeling doubts or running into complications constantly along the way. No plan is flawless, so keep in mind when you are creating a plan for time management role playing can often decrease risks in plans. This means when you come up with an idea for your planning scheme, you would ask questions, play out the part, and focus on the results. If good results come from the actions or decisions, you know then that the plan will run smoothly. Life is too short to waste time, and time is wasting money, so learn the basics in time management so you can reach your goals. Time manages everything. No matter what we do in life, it all revolves around time. We can spend time wisely and get results from our efforts, or we can waste time and sit back wondering what happen to our lives?

Are you the type of person who feels that there are not enough hours in the day for you to complete all of your daily tasks and duties? This article gives free tips on how to manage your time in a more constructive and successful way.
Set a to do list
I am one of the people who would have answered the above question with a definite yes. I often used to feel under pressure and uptight, I worried that I did not have enough time to do what I wanted and needed to do.
I now set myself a to do list which helps me to plan my time better. I have a priority list, which is the tasks which are the most important for me to complete. I will concentrate on working through these jobs first and always try to ensure that they are completed before the day ends.
If I manage to work through all of these tasks, I then start on my second list. This is a list of other important tasks which need to be completed as soon as possible but which do not particularly have to be finished today.
I then have my final list which is work that needs to be completed, however there is no immediate rush to finish them.
If at the end of the day I have certain tasks left on any of the lists, they then are added to the lists of the following day. This is a simple formula which has worked for me and which helps me to sleep better at night.
Take a break
In the past when I used to struggle to work through my tasks, I would start to panic and would not allow myself a break. This I have come to realise is a big mistake. My brain and that of most people has a certain concentration span. If I just continue to work, the quality of this work will soon drop as my brain becomes tired and weary. It is as if it is punishing me for not rewarding it with a rest.
I now make sure that I have regular breaks and I will usually take an hour for lunch. This helps me to return to my tasks fresh and alert. My brain is also happier which helps me to think clearer and quicker.
Do not rush
I would always rush each task, eager to start on the next one. What I found was that this would lead me to making lots of silly errors. I would then have to go back and amend these mistakes which ultimately would cost me valuable time. I now work at a speed I am comfortable with. I still make errors which of course is part of life, however there are now far fewer of these.
Do not beat yourself up
I am my own worst critic. I would often go to bed and would be unable to sleep as I was thinking about all of my unfinished business. I would feel guilty and even ashamed of myself. The next morning after this lack of sleep, I would be tired, which would affect my ability to work well.
This of course was like a vicious circle, which was making things a whole lot worse. I now am attempting to be a lot easier on myself and realise that all I can do each day, is to try my best. If I am unable to complete a task or tasks that is fine, I will do it in the morning.
I hope the above advice helps you to plan your day more effectively and leads you to more positive and successful results.
